What is MSc in Chemistry?

The MSc in Chemistry is a two year course, which develops scientific education in the field of chemical sciences at an advanced level. The emphasis of this programme is the study of matter: its composition, structure, properties and reactions. The MSc in Chemistry programme will develop your chemistry knowledge significantly past your undergraduate course into more advanced topics such as quantum chemistry and thermodynamics, organic synthesis and spectroscopy typically included in the theory of science and immerse you in a more extensive practical experience in laboratory and research activities.


The aim of the programme is to achieve a development of scientific thinking and analytical mind whilst developing your research skills and creatively approach problem solving for developments which require chemical thinking and innovation. Nearly all of your theoretical experience in your studies will be supported and/or confirmed with laboratory sessions, practically based class practical work and research projects and dissertation - which may be shared with industry and/or research work and experience.

Minimum Eligibility for MSc Chemistry

To be eligible for admission to the programme, candidates must meet the following academic requirements-


For National Students-


  • The Candidates must have secured a minimum aggregate of 50% to 60%

  • A bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related subject like industrial chemistry, biochemistry, etc., from a recognised university.


For International Students-


  • The eligibility criterion for all programmes for international applicants is minimum 50% in the qualifying examination and having studied the pre-requisite subjects for admission into the desired programme.

MSc in Chemistry Syllabus and Subjects - Overview
